Corpus Christi celebration
Corpus Christi is the solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ celebrated to honor Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament. The feast of Corpus Christi is customarily celebrated on the Thursday after the octave of Pentecost. One of the most important reasons for the establishment of the feast of Corpus Christi was the sightings of St. Juliana of Cornillon, prioress of an Augustinian monastery. From 1208, St. Juliana experienced visions of a golden glow veiled by a shadow. The saint explained this as a metaphor for the Catholic Church, which lacks a feast to be dedicated exclusively to the Blessed Sacrament.
